We all do our own projects just for fun, or projects for company's clients. Or maybe you are a freelancer that works just for himself/herself. However, how many of you, developer guys and girls, participated (are participating) in software development/web design contests? How far did you go with that?

I was involved in some Google coding contests and ThinkQuest (http://www.thinkquest.com) - the one for web design. Didn't get too far on either of them, but the experience is all that matters for me in this case.
