Counter-Strike Source

Posted 27 April 2005 - 05:00 AM

OK. Best game ever.
But I hate it when people play it with a dial-up connection.
It makes the game lag for everyone else in the game.

Ummm. People with slow connections do NOT slow down the game for others; I hate that fucking excuse. It's a decent game but the physics still practice mediocrity (I'm only insulting the physics because of the big deal Valve made when HL2 / CS:S was first produced). Aside from haphazard physics, the only other downside (I suppose along with hackers) is the lack of shot registration. What is it with first person shooters and making crappy shotguns? Three shots, point blank OUGHT TO KILL SOMEONE, and when you die, you've done 70 damage and managed to put about thirty holes into your opponent. Helmet or not, (kevlar too), I don't see how it is possible for someone to keep on running and jumping after they've been blown away several times in the chest (or head) with a .50 caliber pistol, .45 caliber pistol, assault rifle, etc. The only reason I complain about these things is because Valve claims that no first person shooter can become any more realistic than Counter-Strike: Source is. Well, isn't that a bunch of crock?

true Elikdram, if anything its more of an arcade type shooter.

I don't know about it being the best online fps out there, but it certainly is the best maintained one.

Especally since level IV body armor would stop multiple hits from a .308

That is the assualt vest and a ceramic trauma plate. the only pistol that should penitrate would be the smith and wesson 500 magnum (that isnt in the game purly from a ballistic standpoint.)

I thought CS:S used the standard kevlar + ceramic->alluminum plate armor.

It dosn't say as far as im awere... It should tell you in the buy menu...
But the amounts of shoots to the head and they still kill you is annoying. Other than that its a good game...

It's definitely a good game, there is no doubt about it. However, as a whole, the game is a tad two-deminsional and the physical aspects of the game could be majorly upgraded, which would definitely make it much more outstanding. Every game has its flaws, just what pisses me off about CS:S is that those flaws always affect me in the short and long run.

On the other hand, I am currently enjoying DOD:S quite a bit.
No major bugs that I can see, they changed the gameplay somewhat (for the better in my opinion).

Fun Fun Fun.

Except there is no dod_charlie.
I always felt badass storming the beaches.
