I watched a clockwork orange for the first time the other day, thought you know it's one of those movies you have to watch.

worst ...movie...ever

that scene right at the end where he's being fed and then he chews his food like either a complete retard or the worst actor on the planet or quite possibly both just made me so irrationally angry that i wanted to throw my tv through the wall. I really don't know what it is but something about that scene really bugs me

ACW was an amazing movie. You really need to sit down and attempt to analyze it though.

It's Stanley Kubrick (sp?)

Excellent! Seriously. It's supposed to be disturbing. Evoking an emotional response is the goal of any work of art. If your reaction is simply, "gee, violence is cool," then you have problems. ;)

Sorry you didn't like it. Don't let anyone talk you out of that, though. It's fine to hate a movie everyone thinks is brilliant. I went out of my way to see "Being John Malkovich" in a dinky art theater because everyone was so impressed; I thought it was pretentious tripe. However, it's best to be able to articulate what you thought was the fail.

well, it's not like europeans are any different (in that they only go for american or british movies).

I am only doing one movie now since it's like 2 a.m here:

The Battleship Potemkin

Being a great movie and also basically a Soviet propaganda film, it's probably one of the most influental movies in history.

Given that's it's a silent film about 75 min long you might not be to tempted to see it, but you should atleast look up the Odessa staircase scene on youtube and watch that.

edit: added a nice pic :)

baavgai's got it right, it's a seriously subjective topic and you can't turn around and say you had to like just because some dead dude made it.

I can appreciate that the guy had a pretty good handle on how things would pan out but from and entertainment point of view i just didn't enjoy it. Plus i felt it had one or two oddities that didn't make sense. It starts off with a really futuristic twist, weird outfits ,strange houses and decor and cars etc but once he get;s arrested it's like you're right back in 1970's England. Just felt off

Did you actually get a free rental just because you picked a crap movie?!

Yes, I did get a free rental (only because I worked at the video store at the time)... and I wasted my rental on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.... equally as horrid as The Life Aquatic.

Castaway

  Keeping in mind that I have a high tolerance for bad cinema. I sometimes watch Uwe Boll movies on purpose. There is a really, really short list of movies that fall into the category of "I want those hours of my life back." Castaway may be at the top of that list. It shares this distinction with Cool World, Eye of the Beholder, and Cable Guy.

Stalker and Solaris:
Two classic Russian sci-fi movies (there's a sentence you don't hear that often!) made by Tarkovsky.
Solaris was remade with George Clooney in the lead in Hollywood a few years ago, but the original one is better. The other one, Stalker, was an influence to the recent PC game S.T.A.L.K.E.R that some of you might have played.
Both movie relies on long takes, with an often slow moving camera, which is typical for Tarkovsky (and many of his peers).

@Bavgaii- I want those 2 hours I was forced to endure Castaway back. It was nothing but a man screaming at a freakin' volleyball. Who gives a shit anyways? I said that in my AP Euro class and everyone looked at me like "are you nuts? that was the best movie ever." But of course, they all hate Norbit, Star Trek & Stargate. Goes to show that people are generally a) idiots and B) have bad taste
