Greetings everyone, my name is Eva, and I am new to this board. I was wondering if someone could help me figure out the coding for a simple true or false trivia game quiz. This is due on Fri. May 27...2 days! I've been trying but to no avail at all.
I'm currently finishing a New Media Communications program, and am not very good at programming...more of a visual person.
Basically just a T or F quiz where there are 2 buttons for true and false which the user presses to answer the questions, and i need them to work. LOL

By work, what do you mean? It sounds like you just need to display a question, 2 button, if they click the right one they get a message saying they were correct, otherwise a message that says try again?!

If this is the case, I would have 3 frames, the first with the question and 2 buttons, the second with the message "You're Correct!", the third with "Sorry, Please try again", the True and False button should have an onclick go to frame action on them.

Do you have any of the code done or anything we can take a look at? Do you have to use some specific function or method to accomplish this?

Actually, I don't really have anything started...so I don't have anything to show you, sorry. Trying to play around with booleans and what not, I keep starting over because I really don't know what to do...basically I really suck at actionscript. lol
But yeah, you described perfectly, the way the game should operate. Any suggestions at all would help me bigtime...thanks!

I forgot to mention that my game has an opening screen with a basic 'start' button that leads into the question screen...where those T or F questions are displayed one by one on each screen...it's for kids.

Here is a tutorial on creating a quiz in flash, might be more than you need, but should work fine:

The way I was talking was just creating a button/symbol with the following actionscript:

on(release) {
	gotoAndStop(5);
}

That will cause the button to send the player to whatever frame has the proper message (Correct/Not Correct). Really up to you how complex or simple you want to make it.

If you run in to any problems, just post what you've got and one of our flash experts will hopefully get a chance to look at it. I personally do not program in Actionscript, just know enough of the basics to get by.

from the last screen I can tell that you have a script in the wrong place. or used the wrong syntax.

on(press) is used on the actual button... (make sure it is a button, not a movieclip)

if you want to do the actionscript for a button in a timeline frame (NOT the button itself) use :

buttonName.onPress = function(){
   // button action
}

The code that you've attached seems fine. The error must be somewhere else in your movie. I suggest checking all your buttons and their actions...
