hi..i am a final year computer engineering student..i need 2search for a gud final year project..i have been having many probz with finalizing on a particular project idea..it would be really great of you if u could help me with some sites where i can get good project ideas with some description..i am more interested in d networking and artificial intelligence domains..also if any of you have ideas dat are of use 2me den it wd b really appreciated

I love Matyr2's List, but I think most of them are a bit too basic for a grad final. But i think kmangold has a good idea with Neural Networks. I took an intro to AI course and our final was predicting the presidential election based on census data. You could use networks to predict sports championships or, predict the weather. Both of these have so many variables it would make for a good research paper on how you concluded which were important enough to use and how it effected your predictions

Well if this thread is still active, I am also in final year have have to choose a project idea. Our only guideline so far is that it must be research based.

Any suggestions?

What i had in mind was Image Recognition. That is build a software that would be able to compare 2 images and say if they are similar or not. And by how much. Facebook currently has something in the same direction, The Coke Zero Facial Comparison App.

Well, if you're in final year, then maybe the list IS too small. Sounds like you have a good idea going, but even that might be too simple for a final project...Try looking through some of the other suggestions and see which one suits you the most.

I'm trying to. Further with the image recognition one, was to be able to take a picture of say map of the Americas and have the computer outline it in a map of the world.


Another topic i had in mind was investigating to what extent GPU computing can be used to accelerate everyday tasks and if this is cost effective.
