Formatting Date and Time

hi all,
i am new member coming from java programming langauge background. At the moment i am developing Appointment application using J2ME for as MSc project, i have some problem so far regards displaying the date and time from the record store???!!! well the date display the day and the month ok but the year comes up as numbers, the start time and end time fields also comes up as whole numbers for some reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i need help please i have tried different code to retreive these fields right but i have no luck so far also when i try to filter the record store by date it display all the records in the store not just the matching record but i have no problem filtering by name any ideas?????????????

You mention that the year comes up as numbers, as does the time. I'm probably missing something...can yu post an example of what the output is, and an example of what you need it to look like?

Thanks for your message as regards the date display. The output i have on my emulator screen as follows:

Mon Nov 07 00:00:00 this a date field.
123465780990776 This as a Time field.

I need the display to look like this:

Mon 07 Nov 2005

01:30:19

any idea how to sort this date and time display out??????

Are you pulling the time and date from a database? If so, can you tell me what the filed types are for those fields?
