First site... personal blog/portfolio

Posted 20 July 2009 - 06:43 PM

hey all,

so this is my first published site to date. It's my personal blog/future portfolio. I still have a bit of work to be done on it like make the header clickable to return to the home page and to make the rss link actually work. But as of now i'd say it's about 90% completed so just wanting everyone's feedback before I completely finish it off.

Cheers

ps. i'm on a mac so I have not yet tested it in IE. Firefox and Safari should be ok :D Cheers

IE 6:
The bottom bar (recent posts, about, etc) is located right after your personal photo, and stretches across all the content (blocking it).

IE 7 / Chrome:
They both look the same. The bar (recent posts etc) is positioned after all the content approximately 400 pixels from the content. Looks fine in both, though I do have a proposal for a minor change to the skin.

At the moment the banner portion is a little longer than the content section of the site. If you were to make them even I think it would look better. The background for the content also doesn't seem to fade to the main site's background color if you were to change that it would look a bit smoother.

At the moment it looks good, just those minor things. Nice color scheme and really nice banner background.

In IE8 and FF 3.5, the bottom footer bar gets compressed when the screen is minimized.

Thanks Beta War for the comments, At the moment i'm not too sure what you mean so I think i'll have to pull out my PC and just test it out in IE to see what it looks like there. I will definitely change the header to be the same size.

Cheers

No problems. Its not the first time I've seen it so I thought it may do the same on yours. :)

I was just looking at your site in IE8. Everything looks great so far. The header is well done. I like the hover effect on the nav bar at the top. I just opened up Opera 9.6 and everything looked great there as well.

Just two other comment.

At the bottom of the page, where you have your contact information in the bottom right corner. I think you meant to put Contact, not About. Contact seems to make more sense with the text below it.

The light blue text at the bottom of the page seems to be a little small. That just might be my eyes though. They aren't the greatest.
