XML security Problem

Post icon  Posted 23 July 2009 - 01:58 PM

Hi,

I've got an issue with this double XML feed project that I'm working on. The first XML tab works fine, but the second tab doesn't work.

They work fine when they are on my desktop, but when I put them online I get my error message.
You can see the project HERE

Its the TOURNAMENTS / JACKPOT feed in the right collumn.

I tried using the html fix, which I thought would work
<param name="AllowScriptAccess" value="always"/>
but doesn't.

Does anyone else know of a way to get my cross domain feed to work. Is there a special code I need to add to my actionscript?

Has anyone ever gotten this problem?

Thanks a bunch,
bmcc81

Hi,

I would like to know if anyone has ever had a problem like this, where you have two XML feeds in 1 project, they both work on my desktop, but only one works online. Has anyone ever had this problem before?

Thanks,
- B

Are both the XML files on the same domain as your swf? If not, you'll need to use a cross domain policy file on the remote domain. This is a basic XML file that tells Flash that it is permitted to load data from this domain.

This can also affect subdomains, eg: a swf on www.yourdomain.com loading from yourdomain.com.

Hi ,

Both my XML files are on seperate domains. So your saying that will effects the swf and that I'll need a cross domain policy file on the remote

What do you mean by using "you'll need to use a cross domain policy file on the remote domain?". What exactly is it? Is that a file I link to the swf?

Could you clarify?

Much appreciated.

Hi The Hat,

So, basically I need to get the domain where I'm pulling the information off of to host this crossdomain.xml file?

Which is:

Named crossdomain.xml in there root directory?

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM
"http://www.adobe.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">

<cross-domain-policy>
	<site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="master-only"/>
	<allow-access-from domain="MY_domain.com"/>
	<allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*" headers="SOAPAction"/>
</cross-domain-policy>

Is this right. I want to make sure before I ask the company that has the XML feed to host this file for me.
Thanks alot,
Brandon
