Well, as you see the article was written on April 1st and that should be the main sign that in fact (most likely) it is a joke.
However, with the current steps Ubuntu is taking to adapt Mono as the main platform for their system, one day we can actually see a fully .NET-compliant Ubuntu.

Thats lame, I believed it and was dumbfounded abit.... But how will writing ubuntu in c# increase performance, I thought c++ ran on the system faster? and closer to the system.

It was a joke, they aren't going to rewrite ubuntu with mono.

I didn't thinks so reading this post but it's too bad they never made a good version of mono, it could have boosted the C# fan base, which could increase the XNA and DirectX fan base, then there might be some good video drivers for linux...LOL
