Introducing...

Post icon  Posted 29 July 2009 - 03:23 AM

Hey there. I'm Will, under the name CheckersW.

Programming Languages:
I mainly use VB .Net, but am interested in languages including C++, Python, Web Development and Ruby. (I'm striking that out because I'm only interested in it. Wouldn't know the code if it hit me in the face)

Favourite Console:
PC for sure.

Games:
TF2, CS:S, HL2, WoW (guilty)

Music:
Punk Rock, Electronica, Anything in a Scandinavian Language

Home Country:
Australia

Programming Experience:
About 1 year. Writing simple VB .Net programs for interest, developing games to play with my friends (mainly RPG).

My main reason for programming is that it's a meaningful hobby; something where I spend 5 hours at a computer, but have something to show for it. Few things please me more than having my friends use my programs and saying they actually help them work better, or hearing from people who have downloaded, played and enjoyed my games.

Contact:
Send me an email on William.Archinal@cgs.act.edu.au for anything from teaming up on a project, playing TF2 together or just saying Hi back.
Add me on steam on Cardshark222.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Hi and Welcome to Dream.In.Code!

I am Dennis, one of the moderators on Dream.In.Code. If you're a student, a professional developer, a hobbyist or just a person who wants to find more about the exciting world of software development you will always find members here that can help you, keep a good discussion or be helped by you.

Before you start your journey in the new and intriguing world of our community, let me introduce you to some of the basics of how our community works.

If you are looking for help, please be specific about your problem. Describe what happened, what did you do and what was the final result. In this way you will cut the amount of time needed to find a suitable solution for your problem.

If you are asking for help regarding software development, make sure that you post your question with the code you've been working on so far. We do not do homework for our members, however, if you show some effort in solving your problem, you will surely get a helpful set of replies that will help you find the right solution.

When posting code on the forums, please post it between code tags: :code: . It makes the code more readable on the forums, so it would be easier to look at your program and see which part is doing what.

That's pretty much it! You're all set and ready to go! Just as a last piece of advice - please, respect other members and you will be respected.

I encourage you to contact me or any other team member if you have any questions about our web site.

Thank you for joining and enjoy your stay here!
Dennis.

Hi Will, a.k.a. CheckersW. Welcome to Dream.In.Code. :)

Do you like to play checkers or is there another story behind the nickname?

Hi there! How come you like scandinavian language songs? :P Since I'm from Sweden I have to ask ;) (do you have examples of artists or songs?)

Welcome to you, and I hope we'll get along just great with all the people in this place! :)

Alright! I just added my first tutorial! It feels good. It was a stopwatch program for VB .Net.

I like Scandinavian songs because... well... Scandinavian langauges are cool. I love Basshunter and the whole Euro/Dance genre because it's not the commercial angry music we hear all the time in Australia. Scandinavia is a music haven for me.
