I'm currently working on designing a page for the openfi project at source forge. ( http://openfi.source...net/new_design/ )
The page design-wise is pretty much completed. I've yet to put much of the content together, so forgive the dead links and unfinished thoughts/incomplete instructions.
I have a question about page design.
Is there a way i could (without using frames) have certain elements of each page be the same across the entire site?
For example, I would like the current version to be displayed at the bottom of the page, but when a version changes i dont want to have to open every html page and modify the text. It would also be nice to be able to have the links a the top be updateable in the same fassion. Hopefully there is some method for doing such a thing.
Sorry if the answer to my Q is obvious, i'm a self taught web/graphic designer.
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jim

You can put that information into a separate file, and include that file at the bottom of each page...that way, when the information changes, you only have to change that one file.

How would i go about calling that file so that it would be appended to each page?
I've never done something like that. Would i need to use a script which would read from a file and print to the page being called?
If you wouldn't mind giving an example i would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jim

i could use php, sourceforge will support it i believe, but i have absolutely no experience with php, and i'm trying to keep the page as simple as possible.

You can also try using SSI, Server Side Include, if your server supports it.
