Going To AU/NZ
Posted 21 August 2005 - 08:15 PM
I'm leaving Wednesday for Australia for my wife's sister's wedding, then spending almost a week in New Zealand for a much needed holiday. And ... I'M NOT TAKING MY LAPTOP. So, barring the occasional Internet cafe I'll be tooling around the other hemishpere, in a little camper van on the north island of NZ with my wife ... I'll share pictures when I get back.

not to sound disrespectful or anything, but you're in the military, we get it. every post doesn't need to be about it. just something i've noticed man.

Awesome. i'm soooooo homesick!!
Suggestions? well.. there's Cascade Premium Lager and Cascade Premium Light Lager (no difference in taste between the two... delicious)
You HAVE to go see Darling Harbour. A great tourist spot.
Circular Quay and The Rocks right next to it (oldest suburb in Sydney... renewed)
Palm Beach, Bondi Beach and Manly Beach (NO not Manly as in men man) which has a Jazz Festival on in 1-3 October.
Have a drink or see a movie at The Roxy in Parramatta. While in Parra, go see a footy match. ("Parra! Parra!")
BTW: I used to work in The Roxy before it became a night club. Used to be a cinema (still is in a way). 75 year old building. She's beautiful. Really.
I was a floor manager, projectionist, usher and behind the candy bar too. If any students are thinking of getting a job while studying. WORK AT A CINEMA! Best. Job. Ever!
There's soooo many other places in Sydney. I'm sure your sister-in-law will show you around. Opera House (Just off Circular Quay), Newtown!! gotta see newtown! Great restaurants there!! Blue Mountains. Go into every pub you can. Some look shabby but are fantastic inside. Lot of history in most of them.
Things to eat. Try the meat pie. Sorry, you'll have to in Oz. Fish and chips in Malny or Coogee beach.
Maaaan... so much more.
You'll love it.
