Am I right in thinking Javascript should have one of these? Yes, I just made one in Game Programming but I think the JS forum is healthy enough...

Do you have a tutorial you want to see? Are you not profecient enough to write it? Make a post here!

Add a post here describing your request. When someone writes it, they should PM the requester and everyone's happy!

They get kudos and you learned something! :)

Any one know of a tutorial about the canvas tag?
I know the canvas tag is html, but it's supposed to be good to use with javascript.

Two tutorials would be nice.
One general tutorial about the basics, and one about some of the more intermediate aspects.
Could you show a particular advantage of the usage of the canvas tag with javascript.

I'd like to see an Ajax that runs a PHP script on a server and receives a string back from the PHP script.

Not sure if I should post this here, or in gaming but, would like to see a tutorial in JS about making inventory systems for RPG games.

Now as a joke...
I'd also love to see a humorous spoof tutorial on "newbie creating a MMORPG in JS". Yes, I did seriously consider whether JS would evolve to making a MMORPG even plausible.

Seriously, thanks in advance for anyone up to the challenge. :D If I figure it out before someone writes the tutorial, I'll try to write it. But, it might take me a year. ;)

that depends on the definition of "inventory system" and what it should be able to do. in the end, I guess, its just a custom object.

What I actually want in RPG format (now that I've done more research):

buying/selling from stores
getting those items into an inventory without deleting previous inventory
having Inventory rearrangeable at the whim of the player. (like sorting books on a bookshelf, clothes in a closet... that sort of thing)
a sample inventory code that shows how it all works.

I realize that concantenation can be used to great effect with the adding stuff to the inventory, but I'm still reading in this area as well.

I've just read a small tutorial on OOP. However, it was in Python from the point of view of "windows rules, macs don't exist". :P I'm still learning about objects, classes, and functions. My ultimate goal, is to have a smaller version of my RPG in Javascript. And, have the larger version done in Python/Ren'Py/Pygame - whichever one I can get to work. :dots: lol
Thanks!

then forget about classes, Javascript is all about objects, prototypes and clones thereof.
