Dream.In.Code Fantasy Football 2009 Draft

Posted 16 August 2009 - 11:46 PM

This years draft will begin at 8:00AM PST (Approximately, this can be changed if need be) Wednesday morning, August 19,2009. We will make our picks in this thread and once the draft is complete the players will be added to the teams by the league managers. The draft will be an offline draft, we will cycle through the teams (Starting team will be randomly drawn) making your picks . We will pick for the non-bench player spots, bench players can be added once the draft is finalized. Since last year's draft turned into such of a fiasco this year there will be some rules that will be enforced:
  • You have 3 hours to make your pick. If you do not make your pick within the 3 hour window that position will be forfeited by you (and you can fill empty slots once the draft is completed). (Unless there are some extenuating circumstances)
  • Draft will go in order outlined once teams are set (i.e; Team 1, Team 2 .... Team Last, then to Team 1 ... Team 2... etc) until all roster positions are filled.
  • You must be active during the season. If you miss more than 2 weeks without being active your team will be dropped and your players will be up for grabs (first come first serve basis) (Unless there are some extenuating circumstances)
Below is the draft order (order generated by code, will show below lol). Each person will have their name with the positions they have drafted (I'll keep it as up to date as possible so everyone knows who's been taken and who's available). When you make your pick use the following format:

Now for the code that generated the draft order. I assigned values to each person (0 - 10), then created a generic list holding these values and shuffled the list like so

/// <summary>
/// method for shuffling a generic list of type T
/// </summary>
/// <typeparam name="T"></typeparam>
/// <param name="list">the list we wish to shuffle</param>
public static void ShuffleGenericList<T>(IList<T> list)
{
	Random rnd = new Random();
	int i = list.Count;
	T val = default(T);
	while (i >= 1)
	{
		i--;
		var next = rnd.Next(i, list.Count());
		val = list[next];
		list[next] = list[i];
		list[i] = val;
	}
}

Then to use it I created a test class (Numbers)
public class Numbers
{
	public int id { get; set; }
}

Then called it

static void Main(string[] args)
{
	List<Numbers> numbers = new List<Numbers>();
	for (int i = 0; i <= 10; i++)
	{
		Numbers num = new Numbers();
		num.id = i;
		numbers.Add(num);
	}
	ShuffleGenericList(numbers);

	for (int i = 0; i < numbers.Count(); i++)
	{
		Console.WriteLine(numbers[i].id.ToString());
	}

	Console.ReadLine();
}

So I had no say in the order whatsoever, it was randomly generated :P

So lets all have a kick ass season!

I would have preferred this code to have been written in Pascal. Please re-do.

i will be drafting my players based on the hotness of their significant others.

this does not apply for tom brady because gisele is just a cover for being gay. therefore my first pick in the draft will have to be matt leinhart for once dating my future wife : kristin

i want to have intimate moments with her, all day long ... on a beach... or in a house that is really expensive.... i would hold her hand in public because she is attractive and pretty....

[sung to a song in my head]

apparently if leinhart is gone i might have to pick up the worst qb in the world aaron rodgers....

DIME PIECE

3 hours from when the pick before yours was made? Or are we defining 3 hour windows beginning at 8am PST on Wednesday (which would take longer, but allow for scheduling)?

Actually, this year is mostly rookies and second years, with a few vets like Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, Ed Reed, etc. We have a second year QB in Flaco, rookie kickers, and most of the offensive line is rookies. At least from what they are saying here.
