Does anyone else hate Joomla?
Posted 25 August 2009 - 06:36 AM
I won't go into an all-out rant about WHY I hate Joomla right now, but I am curious to know the general consensus on the tool. It's clearly one of the more popular free/open source CMS tools but I honestly feel like the UI isn't designed very well.
I have a feeling I'm in the minority here... but I'm very curious.

Anyway, haven't tried Joomla before, so there's not much to say. Although, I have heard from others that they "dislike" Joomla because of similar reasons to yours.

Why the need for name calling? Are you frustrated beacuse you can't comprehend what you're reading? Or did you not even read any of the results from your search?
Either way i don't see a need for name calling. If you Googled it and still don't understand what it is. Go to the Other Languages thread and start a "Can you help me understand what Joomla is" thread. And I'm sure people will help you to understand what it is.

If you're on a Windows box, you might try DotNetNuke. I like it a great deal more than Joomla (understatement), but I'll admit it still isn't perfect.

Because people who post search results fucking piss me off. As if I didn't already look at that page trying to figure it out. If you're going to try to help, post a freaking direct link. That's just being a smart ass and that REALLY pisses me off... lmgtfy links piss me off too.

Well if you searched then you would have saw the first link on the page, which is pretty clear cut as to what Joomla is. Weird how you didn't see this link. It's even in the search results Tom9729 so kindly pointed you to (second link)

In case you didn't find it: http://www.joomla.or...out-joomla.html
In case you don't feel like following the link:

Joomla is an award-winning content management system (CMS), which enables you to build Web sites and powerful online applications. Many aspects, including its ease-of-use and extensibility, have made Joomla the most popular Web site software available. Best of all, Joomla is an open source solution that is freely available to everyone.
What's a content management system (CMS)?
A content management system is software that keeps track of every piece of content on your Web site, much like your local public library keeps track of books and stores them. Content can be simple text, photos, music, video, documents, or just about anything you can think of. A major advantage of using a CMS is that it requires almost no technical skill or knowledge to manage. Since the CMS manages all your content, you don't have to.
Does that explain what Joomla is clearly enough?
