Prank Machine

Post icon  Posted 16 September 2005 - 09:21 AM

I am trying to make a program in java that can do a variety of pranks to the user. I have already found code to open and close the cd drive and set it on a timer so that it will open and close the cd drive every 10 seconds.

I would like to be able to do things such as rearrange the desktop items, hide the start button, hide the start bar, move the mouse to random positions around the screen, hide the mouse icon, change the mouse icon and much more.

If you have code or other ideas for my program your help would be greatly appreciated.

:D Thanks!!! :D

I recommend then have a look at the JNI (Java Native Interface) and the Windows API - or if you are programming for Linux then some documentation of the target Windowing system. Most of the things you need are not available as standard Java functions, as Java is not aware of Start menu or other things like that.
Actually I think you would be better with using C/C++ - C# would have the same drawbacks as it is also a VM.

If you would like to see the progress that i have maid so far on my program feel free to run it.

The only thing it does is ask you how long to wait before starting the prank and how often it should do the prank.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or comments.

i wouldn't count on being able to do many windows-specific things in java without some sort of api, the best part about java is that it works cross platform, i.e. the code i program on my windows laptop in class will work on the schools linux server, but that means a lot of windows specific stuff is missing so that everything works in linux, osx, etc...
