Problem in Package and Deployment Wizard

Post icon  Posted 31 August 2009 - 12:00 AM

Hi All

I have successfully created the Setup package using Vb6 package and deployment wizard.

I am able to install it as well The problem I am facing is if I try to install the package with out unstalling the already installed setup it is allowing me to do so which I don't want.

Is there any way to solve it??

Thanks and Regards,
Vivek Rane

Hi,

Thanks for quick reply. I can do that but I then will be able to check it when my application starts. Want to check when installer starts installing application.

Thanks and regards,
Vivek Rane

This will take some fancy coding on your part as you will have to modify the Setup1 project that you will find where you installed VB.

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

Before you attempt to modify this project, I suggest that you copy the project to two different folders. One folder is to keep the original in and the other is for modification.

Once you have your modification folder and files set up, you can open the project and follow the instructions inside.

Be very careful and follow the instructions on how to debug.

Good Luck

why don't you downlaod inno setup and use it to customize that option because it support customization of scripts in setup

alternatively go to this folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98\Wizards\PDWizard\Setup1 and format that project and modify it to your feel and save it in the same folder as setup 1 then it will be used to package it
