Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum, and also to DHTML, so I'd really appreciate some constructive criticism of my new site.  It's going to be a portfolio of my work as a site designer.

I've been told that the font color needs to be darker so that it really "pops!" out (not red on blue popping...hehe).

At any rate, any critiques are greatly appreciated.  If anyone can help me make my site better, it's my peers.  Thanks all!

nice DHTML effects etc, but design wise, its nothing that really strikes out to me. if ur planning on showing ur works as a web designer then u might wanna go with something a bit more creative and prove a clearly original style.

I'm glad that the DHTML effects don't seem overbearing... I just thought it would make for a nice transitional effect.

As far as the overall design goes, that's still a work in progress.  I've been thinking of using a semi-opaque background image absolutely positioned where the content text is, with a lightblue hue to it.

I know there is a #### of a lotta white space in this design, so I'm definately going to work on taking care of that.  Also, any suggestions as to what the navigation system on the left hand of the site should be?  Drop downs, rollovers, textual links, etc?  Or should I just 86 the left nav altogether considering I have one up top?

I like the DHTML stuff , it has a simple look to it but nothing , thats like , wow , the icon idea is good by it needs some more shades , Art, and More pages / Content , but a good start

What I'd like to do next with it, before adding anything else, is create a script to detect the users screen resolution, because at work I'm running at 1280 x 1024, and it looks great.  But the fonts look too big at home where I'm running at 1024 x 768.  That's next.

I'm gonna try to get the design down before I do anymore content.  Even the content that I DO have is temporary.

nice colours, they all work i guess. the layout looks unfinished, it looks like your just presenting the colour scheme rather than the layout. the layout seems a bit boring, and i dont like how the menu just sits there...hmmm ask me again when you've got some more done.

It's a fairly obvious manipulation of layer visibility.  Small effect yes, but still DHTML.

Hey Skrilla... what do you mean by "code-like" stuff?  Thanks for the comments!

I'm still working on getting a better layout... one with not so much "whitespace."  We'll see how that goes.

I'm getting  A big fat 404 ERROR this morning. Did you intentionally take the page doen or is it some kind of server problem?

Having just checked the page 10 seconds after your post, it's working fine.  Don't know why it's giving the 404.  Try reloading after the error.

Alrighty everyone... I scrapped the last couple designs and I think I'll stick with this one, as I like it very much.  As you can probably tell by now, I'm a huge fan of blue hues, so they're here to stay, hehe.

Added DHTML menus for navigation.  You can view src if you want to use the menu, as it's the best DHTML menu system I've seen on the net.

I will, however, be redoing the header so that it doesn't look as disfigured.  For some reason I'm having quite a bit of trouble with Fireworks making all lines look the same weight, but we'll see what Photoshop has to say about it.

The more comments I can get, the better it'll be, thanks in advance! :o)
