You have to get over any fear of programming before you can do anything with it.
If your scared of sex then you will suck at it and prolly blow ur load to soon if your a guy or clench up if ur a gal.
if your scared to draw then it will show in what you draw...same with programming. if you have no confidence in yourself then you will write crappy code that is ineffective.
I am confident when I program, among other things, yet I am not arrogant at all. If something I write sucks then I will admit it and fix it but that doesn't mean that I am afraid to write something sucky...it happens sometimes...

I think that everyone here likes to program or else hey wouldn't be doing it...right? Well at least I can say that no on here hates to program...I hope.
The main thing is the varying degrees of how much one likes to program. Some people code 4 fun while some just want to get paid.

Well...Thanks for the advice and the courage you guys gave me. But the question is like you cannot find a really good book for beginner that explains things in an organized manner. And also you do not know what book that really explains things in detail. Most of the books will teach and explain everything in the beginning, but after half a quarter through the book, things begin to get messy and no clear explanation, and after that it just jumps right into another chapters or topics.

Have you considered that maybe it's not the book, that maybe it's all you? Out of all the books that I've read (and I've read a lot of them)... there's hardly a single book that I would say did not accomplish its goal. Whichever topic you need, just go to amazon.com and read the reviews.

Generally speaking, by 3/4ths of the way through the book, they should have covered the basics enough to reasonably expect you to be able to piece the bits together to accomplish something more complicated.

I like the problem solving, it's always something different and something fun.
I also still think you're in the wrong forum.

I program because it's fun to me. It's so awesome writing code, and then seeing a real application, and saying you made it.

I find that some older programming books kinda suck...well at least on Cobol and assembly. For them they tend to get bogged down in explaining what a computer is and forget about explaining what the code means and how to implement or even compile it.

Like anything else, it's hard when you first start, but it takes practice, practice and practice!! I remember feeling like that 11 years ago, trying to learn BBC Basic and Turbo Pascal (I feel old) but now, it does not matter what language it is, all languages basically do the same thing.
Hang in there, in about two years or so, you will start o enjoy it.

What do I think of programming? I think it's fun as hell. I'm having second thoughts about getting a programming job, because, well, nobody loves their job and I don't wanna screw up my love for programming.
