Is this certification worth getting? I'm downloading the reference material and whatnot and appareantly test will cost me 80$.
How important is it to have a certification in the real world?

I would say that since it's a Microsoft certification to go for it. Some, if not most, certifications out there really mean crap but a lot of hiring managers (who are hiring for .Net positions) put weight on Microsoft certifications such as MCAD, MCSD, MCPD and such. It definitely cant hurt your resume that's for sure.
