How do i stop hackers from hacking a text-based mafia game im using freehostia at the moment do i need codes to stop them because hes using a fake ip making himself admin and deleting users please help!!

Okay if your admin role on the system does not require a password then you get what you deserve. Really people lock up your things or asshats will co-opt them.

what ever teh hosting site - it should REQUIRE you to do that. I am talking about password protecting the admin rights to your text based game.

btw, if a code fix is the solution, we can't just tell you what to fix without seeing the code. There is no makesecure() function

As someone with a degree in Computer & Network Security, primarily focused on defense techniques and counter-hacking, I can tell you that anything he is doing is NOT hacking. Changing his IP address really has nothing to do with him screwing around with your online game.

You need to make sure access rights to all elements of the game (the website, the admin account, databases) are all secure. Password lock everything, don't let regular user accounts modify important content, etc.

What did you make your game in? If it's PHP and MySQL, please head to the PHP board and learn about SQL Injection, and other techniques to protect your websites.

Accounts are where it's at. The only time you need to look at an IP is if you want to ban someone from connecting at all.
