Hello peeps!

I have got to the stage where I would like to build my project and I have done so, however none of the images have compiled..

My images are all located in recourses.resx

how can I get my resources to compile with my project so my buttons and other images work like they did when previewing in debug?

This is just a thought, are you indeed pulling the images from your resource files to display in your toolbars?

Well when you have the Image option is the dialog that pops up going to your resource or your system.

The image properties go: ProjectName.My.Resources.WhateverTheImageNameIs

How did you compile it/Deployed it? Are you using Click Once or not?

I build (using the build... button) the project and it comes without the images, what do you mean by Click Once?

Hi,

You might want to consider using Click Once as your project will most pobalby need DotnetFramework and windows Installer (and any other custom controls you had been using or things like SQL Report Viewer etc.)

There are 2 options in making a setup program, "Click Once" and "Setup and Deployment"

Click Once is availbe in Express Editions but the Setup and Deployment not.

Click Once

(VB.Net 2008 or VB.Net 2005)

Click Once makes as setup project for you its very limited but has given us the easiest method of deploying our application and giving access to updates.

Click Once can be accessed on the "MyProject" folder in the Solution Explorer. And Selecting "Publish"

On the "application files" button you can choose if you can change the Publish Status of "Prerequisite (Auto)" to "Include". (if there are any that you can change).

On the "Prerequisites" button you can incude the Dotnet Framework and Windows Installer.

If you click "Publish Wizare" it will create a wholes setup program for you to the publish location.

I am sure it should then include the resources.

Alteratively (if you do not have any express verion of Visual Studio/VB.Net)
you can have a look at my tutorial in the VB.Net Tutorials Section about "Setup and Deployment with Prerequisites Included in VB.Net 2008". There i added some more info about how to include those files as well.

Have you opened your application files with reflector to see if the
resources are present?

Hey MangoMan,

In your solutions explorer, under the folder Resources, should be your images.

Click on the first image and set the property for "build action" to "compile" or "content".

And set the "Copy to output Directory" to "Copy Always"...

and try again.
