i don't have any plans to use that 'as-is'.  it was more of a proof of theory idea, that the 'hype' & soon to be as dead as <*marquee>, Aqua style could be rendered in a vector environment, like flash (actually, it looks even better in illustrator, but SVG isn't an approved standard yet.)

soon, i'll be using it to build my first 'personal/commercial' site, 404media.com (all me, all the time (j/k, freelance ad site for myself)).

that looks like it took forever. what was the time frame on that project?

the time frame was about 2 1/2 hours.  it was mostly done in adobe illustrator, just tryin' to do a 'gel-like' interface.

it really doesn't go to anything, just showin' off that illustrator is a little under estimated for flash (usually).  the biggest problem i had was the flash doesn't support 'layer modes' (like director does ;).  that's probably my #1 wish for flash 6, photoshop/director layer modes (it'd look even better if i didn't have to 'fake' the colors hand tinting them).

consider it open-source, if anyone wants to look at it.

Pretty good, P R E T T Y good.

I had never tried to do that in Illustrator, course the Aqua interface so not as cool when you use it every day (like I do).  I think it's a little to purple. . .j/k! I like it.  Lots of gradients. Looks like a pain in the ass. How many K is that?  Loaded nice and fast. Well done man.

Oh, one more thing. DON'T do you website in Aqua.  It's getting kinda cheesy. Well, I guess it's ok if your buttons don't look like Gel Caps and your site doesn't look like apple.com. NO TABS. Cool. Peace,

it is all of 8.9k (the actual .ai is more like 200k)

trust me, i try not to use it (atleast not in the gel fashion, but in other 'hard plastic' motifs).  then again, even if you don't like the current style, its good to know how to imitate them, if only b'c a client might ask one day . . .
