A new XNA game
Posted 09 October 2009 - 08:59 PM
Well I was thinking of starting a new game project as a diversion from Eyes of the Dragon and writing tutorials. Still not sure about how the game will play. I'm stuck between a puzzle type game and a break out style game. Anyway I thought Plinger would be an interesting title. So I started a new XNA project and implemented the basic framework I've been using for my games and created a couple images in GIMP for the start menu. Thought I would share with my fellow DICer's what I came up with. You can't see it here but Plinger rotates clockwise until it gets back to the starting position and then the menu buttons are displayed. Yes, I know I'm a little texture happy when it comes to backgrounds and such.

Nope, I don't expect this one to take all that long. I was just wanting a short project because Eyes of the Dragon is going to take a while to finish and the same with Crystal Caverns. There is a lot that I want to add to both of those games.

You are right. Too many projects at one and none of them will get done. But diversions are great now and again and I don't expect this game to take too long as this is a 'just for fun' project.
I really should be programming Eyes of the Dragon right now though. Just couldn't stay away from DIC. lol

Yea, my sites a great diversion from my 10k pounds of homework
and p:n. I know how you feel. You should make one of those puzzle games where you have to push a rock around and open doors.... I can't explain it. I remember Neopets had a game like it and it was really fun. If you pushed it sideways into a niche it was gone or it fell a floor or whatever. Kinda like that blockdude game for the TI-83 calculator

That would be a fun game to write. I'll think about it.

Still playing around with the concept of the game. I'm looking for something simplistic that will end up being addictive. Will see what it turns out to be.
