Microsoft released the second beta version of their next-generation IDE (Integrated Development Environment) - Visual Studio 2010. Among the exciting new features, we can see a better support for cloud (Azure) development, parallelism and web development. The support for multi-framework multi-targeting is present, so the developers can easily deploy their applications, depending on the client .NET package.

I've got beta 1, and I am enjoying it so far. Having to title my main function wmain in C++ is a tad irritating, but other than that it's quite enjoyable, and runs very well in Windows 7 Professional (RTM)

I'll be getting beta 2 on Wednesday for sure!

Since 2010 is still in beta (along with Framework 4.0) I would go with 2008 for now

Me I am patiently waiting for 2010 -- I am using the beta now but I plan on getting the professional version once it is out. I don't see much point in purchasing the 2008 version just to have to turn around and get 2010 (these are kind of expensive).

Of course I have no pressing need for the professional version (heck I spend most of my time developing in Java).

Does anyone know when/if the beta versions will shutdown? By that I mean, when we cannot use those VS 2010, and we have to purchase Pro, Team, etc.??

Awesome, yet I think I will wait until it available from my college - Free for me then
For now I will stick with VS 2008
