I have the supreme task of making an html/css bulletin for my friend's webpage that is promoting an upcoming event. I am in need of quite a few pointers, one being how to use a stretched background using html and css...can anyone lend a hand?

Not much of a tutorial, but you stretch it by setting the height and width to 100%. You would probably want to use javascript though so that the image resizes with the window resize: http://buildinternet...-jquery-plugin/

I'd like to see a tutorial that teaches you how to make a 2 column fixed width layout using HTML and CSS.

In my opinion, this guy's blog is really good: Matthew James Taylor

He's got a lot of good tips and tricks and they're compatible with mobile web as well.

A quick tutorial on how to change a 2 and 3 column fixed layout to a 2 and 3 column liquid or elastic layout.
