TIOBE Programming Community Index

Posted 20 October 2009 - 04:30 PM

Just received an email with this information from a friend/associate in the industry.

The TIOBE Programming Community index gives an indication of the current popular programming languages based on skilled programmers and engineers world wide, search engine results, courses, wikipedia, etc...

According to the website the index can be used as an indicator to check whether your skills are up to date or to help with a decision about which language to build a new software system on.

Quote

1. Java
2. C
3. PHP
4. C++
5. Visual Basic
6. C#
7. Python
8. Perl
9. Javascript
10. Ruby

I am surprised to Perl still in the top 10.

The website and more details can be found here...

Any thoughts, concerns, objections?

please discuss...
