so when i was young my parents especially my mom hit me a lot when i would do something she told me not to do or when i would disrespect her. lol i remember i used to run away and lock myself in the bathroom or whatever when she would try to hit me for something i did, lol i remember she would chase me sometimes around the dinner table trying to catch me haha..man thinking about these times make me laugh...so anyway who here used to get hit by their parents and what funny moments do you remember?..i know in some countries parents aren't allowed to hit their kids but if you got something funny then please share

I never really misbehaved to be hit, but when I was really bad she did. My guilt was usually punishment enough.

my mom would punish me in the usual ways most of the time, like no candy or no playing on the computer or go to your room, that kinda stuff..but there where times were she would hit me if i was really bad

Hit like with a fist or slap or spank? Thats how a lot of child abuse cases come around. What is really "spanking" your kids when they misbehave which isnt illegal, they kids tell people its "hitting". Which is why now spanking is looked down upon.

I was spanked and I turned out decent. Was never hit though.

EDIT: My mom however spanked with my wooden spoons sometimes because she coudlnt swing my dads police belt around fast enoughto do anything. Id clinch my butt and itd break. One time I did that and it hit my dad in the head. lol Thats the only funny time I can think of while I was being punished.

My grandma used to "get the switch" (aka a stick) out of the front yard and threaten me.

lol of course i was not hit with fists or anything like that, it was spanking and other physically harmless punishment that would hurt but wont do any damage.

Um, yeah? I wont tolerate a smart ass punk kid who thinks they can run all over their parents. There will be rules, and they will be followed. Luckily, I'm quite a scary person when I want to be, so I don't think I'll ever resort to that.

I get slapped or paddled. One time I kicked my dad in the car and when I got home he picked me up by my throat and threw me against the wall and told me to never do it again. I didn't ever do it again.

The "spare the rod philosophy" is relatively new to the US; thirty years ago most kids could expect a good whooping when they misbehaved.

There's this kid's toy that has a paddle, with a ball and a rubber band. My mom used to rip the ball off and use that as a paddle. These days the paddle is usually pretty sturdy plastic, but when I was a kid they were made out of very thin wood. Thank god. My mom broke untold numbers of those things on my ass.

When the paddle broke, or none was readily available, the open hand was the weapon of choice. This often resulted in hand injury. She would complain about this to me; of course getting zero sympathy from me and my sore butt.

I'm pretty good at reading people and seem to have more empathy than most of my geek brethren. I strongly suspect this treatment had a lot to do with that. Being able to gage mood and reaction was the difference between a broken paddle and passing unscathed.
