Selecting a mobile programming language

Post icon  Posted 01 November 2009 - 07:07 AM

Hi guys,

Sorry, I'm totally new to the world of mobile programming. As part of my Dissertation project I need to develop an application that will run on a PDA running Windows Mobile 6.1.

Can you suggest what language to use? (If it's any help, I already have Visual Studio 2005).

Any hints, tips or tricks are also welcome.. but I really need to know what language is best suited.

Thanks guys! :)

If you're using windows mobile, then you can pretty much only choose one type of language and that's .NET. So you'll be either using VB or C# I believe.

Cheers

Visual Studio 2005 is good enough for Windows Mobile programming.
Once you have the Smart Device Programmability component installed, you can create new Windows Mobile applications from the IDE's menu itself.
To do that, rerun the VS2005 setup and click the check box for the component under Visual Basic 2005 or Visual C# 2005 depending on your language preference.
