How to distribute a java desktop database application

Posted 02 November 2009 - 11:31 AM

Hi!
Good Evening!

I have created a java desktop database application. My data are stored in a database in MySQL. Everything works fine in my computer.
Now, I wanted to distribute my application. Do i need to include MySQL Server in my installer and feed my data manually to the server? Are there any other ways to do this?

Thanks,
Kwinx

Why would you want to include the server in your distribution kit ?
Aren't all your clients connecting to the same database server ?

If all clients have it's own server better to build an embedded server application.

I'm not familiar with distributing java applications using database, so I thought I would also need to distribute my server where my data are stored. My Java application is connected to a MySQL Server.

I guess I should research on embedded servers.

Thanks PBL.
