how about embed:

<embed src=""/>

This tag is used for embedding alternative elements such as movie, sound, vrml and more. To work <embed> now, correct plugin must be installed. And embed attributes are different between each plugins.

Do you really want background music on your web page?! I mean... it's so annoying and so 1995.

Welcome to dream.in.code :)

I would support that theory and only suggest music if a video is played or flash is included, generally it would have to work the same through every page so it is not a good idea in that way. But, embedding it will work and the bgsound will work if you get the correct plugin for firefox.

If I was to use one, it would be bgsound, because embedding it takes up page space.

If I were you...I'd include a Flash SWF File on the Page having an Audio ON/OFF Button allowing the user to turn the background music on or off. You can include the background music in the SWF File itself...

i'd use a little bit of html

  <table width="100%" height="5%" style="background-color: #CCCCCC; color: #FFFFFF; border: 2px solid #EFEFEF;">
  <tr>
 	 <td width="10%">Audio Player</td>
 	 <td><input type="image" src=""/>Play/Pause Music<br/>
 	 <input type="image" src=""/>Play Music</td>
  </tr>
  </table>

All you would need to do is probably use onclick attribute that would probably use php or something to execute the file...

<input type="image" src="" onclick="<?=exec('');?>"/>

It would be more useful though if you used html / javascript.

I have it!!!!!

I have the code for having background music without having a Quick Time thing pop up, and that will wor PERFECTLY in firefox!

Here is the code.-
<embed src="path_to_your_music.mp3" autostart="true" loop="true" hidden="true"></embed>

Replace .mp3 with the extention of your file, and replace path_to_your_music with the path to the file.

I finaly figured it out!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

I'd just give up on the background music - it is never good.

If you really want music, find a free flash movie that gives you the option to play music automatically and the viewer the option to stop.

<param name="filename" value="sample.wav">
<param name="autostart" value="1">
<param name="playcount" value="true">
