Uploading Distributed App Question

Posted 06 January 2006 - 07:36 PM

Hi folks

I have been developing a distributed app written in VB.NET.

It involves a SQL Server back end, various WebService projects (in the same solution) & Windows Forms front end.

As far as the SQL Server back end is concerned I have been using version 2000 Developer Edition, but I also have MSDE.

What I was wondering is, if I wanted to upload the whole app including MSDE to my ISP for testing purposes how would I do this. The ISP does not have SQL Server or MSDE.

Hoping somebody can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance

Ross Petersen

Hmmm...you've got an interesting situation there. Optimally, you'd like to have all the functionality of the original app on the server. If this is not possible, it's likely you'll have to connect to a remote database via IP...this entails your local machine (upon which the database resides) being on and connected, however.

Can you not install the required components on the server?
