I'm really happy to see a lot of other PHP programmers using NuSphere.

I really wish it had some SVN support though. Having only CVS is a bit irritating as it's not quite as intuitive.

On windows, NuSphere is where it's at. It's really the simple things that I take for granted with it are the reasons I like it. It's ability to check through a project and bring up the parameters for functions as you start typing it, definitely handy when you get parameter order mixed up and don't want to have to constantly reference it.

No one mentioned it but has anyone here tried Coda for Mac? I feel like it's a highly underrated IDE but it's great for PHP editing and has some really sweet CSS features.

Yeah I know what you mean. I'm currently working with some other guy on a project and we both use Eclipse which have SVN extensions you can install, and it's pretty sweet :D

I use free PHP/HTML/CSS/Javascript Editor Codelobster PHP Edition.
It is the best for me.
It also has Drupal, Joomla, Smarty, WordPress and JQuery plug-ins.

I'm personally a huge fan of Notepad++, especially when paired with WinSCP. Everything you need for editing, and your changes are automatically uploaded when you save (if you open with Notepad++ straight out of WinSCP).

PHP doesn't require a whole lot of extra stuff. Most of it is just write and test, really :)

2. Error Checking At the click of a mouse it error checks my code for syntax errors
3. Friendly GUI
4. Allows Mirroring of changed files and compares uploaded files.
5. Project Managing
6. MacOS Friendly
7. Live Preview allows me to preview my changes before i commit them.

I also prefer nano if editing over SSH

Well.
I usually used Notepad++ and i loved it. But i shifted to "E" editor which was also good. And the current editor is Eclipse for PHP. its really good considering it will show me errors as i type by compiling it internally. Also it got autocomplete of my var's which have scope their. I can also view the code of a function without going into that file. etc etc...

Recently I've been working on linux alot so that forced me to try out other IDE than Dreamweaver.

Have been using NetBeans PHP (Java so obviously compatible with others) and it's great. Auto-Completion, Project Management, SVN Capability (+ FTP, SFTP, etc etc). It's also absolutely free of course..

Anyone that hasn't I suggest you give it a try!

I am also like Netbeans for mainly auto-completion and project management facilities. I use it in both windows and linux platform.

I also use netbeans, really like the program. I also use it for java so it's handy to have just one ide for more languages.
Auto completion is nice.

+1 for Netbeans.

Anything Windows specific is automatically ruled out for me, and out of the big Java-based IDEs (which seem to make up like 99% of the cross-platform IDEs) Netbeans has been working best for me. Eclipse PHP has also been "growing" on me recently.

Gedit/Kate/Vim/Notepad++ are handy for minor things, but I would go insane very quickly if I were stuck using them full time for my larger projects :)
