Interview with game programmer

Post icon  Posted 29 November 2009 - 03:58 PM

Hi, I need to do a research paper for the career i would like to go into. I chose game programming . for the paper I need to do an interview with a game programmer. The problem is I don't know any. If any programmers could answer any of the following questions it would be greatly appreciated.

What is your favorite part of the job?
What is your least favorite?
How many hours a day do you work?
How did you get started in the industry?
How much schooling do you need?
What does a person need to know before starting in the career?
How can someone prepare themselves?
How much does a person starting off make?
What platfor(s) have you produced for?
What platform is your favorite?
Are you self employeed or do you work for a company?
Do you work with others or alone?
Are there any advantages that a game developer has?
What has been your most memorable moment in your career so far?
Do you work from home or an office?
Do your opinions change the way you work on certain things?
Where do your ideas for projects come from?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I would suggest visiting http://www.gameinstitute.com. They have community forums and they have game programmers who might be able to answer your questions. You will have to register but it is free to register. You could also check out http://www.gamasutra.com or http://gamedev.net.

I have a friend who swears by GamaSutra and GameDev. It's also where I myself go if there's something I actually just can figure out. When I used to ask my questions here, there wasn't even a Game Programming forum and no one was an expert on games enough to answer my question. So I had to go there instead.
