Hello everyone, I am going over the list to check some of the request you guys are making. I created two tutorials already and have them hosted on my website with their source code.

Beginning Finite State Machines and Game UI Development, they are both free and hopefully you guys can provide me with some feedback to keep writing better tutorials.

Oh, another tutorial I thought would be helpful, an input Text Box tutorial, I'm trying to make my own but honestly don't know how to do it. I'm trying to make a math quiz game but don't know how to let the user put in numbers somewhere.

Hello superkb10, check out my tutorial on XNA Game UI Controls at http://electronicpaw...duct.aspx?id=5. It is free and it shows how to create several controls and a framework for extending and adding your own.

Does anyone know of a tile map editor tutorial, i know a few but they only go into saving the file as a .txt with a 2d array, i want to be able to make a map editor, that can save the maps as a bitmap/image etc
Any help appreciated, thanks

-Deathnotedo

Hello Deathnotedo,

I extended the content pipeline to save and load a tile-map as a Level object. If you think that will help you, I will clean the source code up and upload the tutorial.

For those who ask for 3D, I've updated and revised my tutorial on making a simple 3D graphics engine using XNA 4, now on its own web site. I made the engine 10% more efficient overall and more modular sense its initial incarnation. I use polymorphic and other OOP design practices, as that I think is important for tutorials. I never liked a tutor that uses bad programming practices myself. You can find it here. https://sites.google...orsbylance/home
(I don't know why, but I can't get any of the link buttons to work in the comment editor. I use Chrome. I don't remember the code for where the text for the URL goes.)
I even explain how to import 3D models from 3DS Max, and how to get the free student version. Works great for creating game assets. I talk about what you should worry about for scale, and rotation as well. In part two, look for particles, HLSL effects and more physics.
I hope someone finds it useful, and thank you for your time.

Would anyone be interested in making a tutorial that describes how to make a simple turn based game? Thanks.

Anyone interested in making a tutorial on using 2D and 3D together? Looking to get a 3D model but in a 2D world, reason being It seems easier to use 3d models for characters so you don't have to worry about getting sprites at every angle etc.

I already have, take a look at my tutorial. My XNA Tutor on 3D engine
I have the reader create Asteroids using 3D assets, and it really is easy. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have as well.

I guess a board based puzzle game (Tetris, bejeweled, etc.) would be nice. If there isn't one here by the time my semester ends, I can make one myself

Hi, I'd really like a tutorial on networking. preferably using lidgren networking library.
I'm familiar with network programming, but i find myself struggling when it comes to applying it to a game.

I'm with that guy. When it comes to networking, my brains just drools out of my ear.
I think it would be great to make a silly game you can play with a friend online.

Hello,

I would love to see a tutorial about implementing UI, especially a mouse UI. Little like RTS style, but more like how to handle a UI for choosing a building to build while "mouse over-ing" on a empty slot and things like that. I'm sorry for sounding fuzzy, but what I'm trying to get at is at least some basics into the thinking of implementing UIs into games, and especially for Mouse UIs.

Thanks in advance for even reading this far :)/>

Hi Guys

Ive seen this technique done in many games but tutorials done on it seem to be almost nonexistent unless its some major game engine like udk. I call it the footstep impact effect where you have an animated model that emits particles(dust debris, grass debris, water splash,etc,...)based on footsteps taken on certain texture coordinates on a multitextured terrain, I think a tutorial like this would fill a huge void and also be most enjoyable to learn from for not just the xna community but for other forums as well.

Thanks for providing these forums :smile2:/>

below are example youtube links of this technique done in
certain games

link 1)
ultimate ninja storm (this game provides a perfect example
of the technique)

link 2)
rigs of rods(same technique but done with vehicles)
