Request a tutorial.

Posted 30 November 2009 - 02:00 PM

There are many people on the site who would be happy to write an XNA tutorial for those who would like one, myself included. If you would like a tutorial on a specific topic in XNA then leave a reply to this topic and hopefully somebody will be able to write up a tutorial for you, possibly even me if I have the time.

A tutorial on how to layer 2D on a 3D, like text. Also a tutorial on sprite color modding would be awesome! These are just curiosities at this point, but I'm sure many people would appreciate any tutorial you anyone writes.

I think an XNA subforum was a reallllly good idea :) Thanks DIC!

There is a two part tutorial in the Game Programming tutorials section on creating a screen management system with XNA here on DIC. It would be helpful if you understand the object-oriented principles of inheritance and polymorphism as I use both in the tutorials. You should be able to get the code to work with out understanding them though. I try hard to explain the reasons why I did what I did and how everything works.

Can you do a tutorial showing how to shoot from a character and hitting another another character, and how i would load the other character but getting it move randomly and shoot at my character

a) my character controlled by the keyboard shooting at AI character and exploding after three collisons
B) AI chaarcter moving randomly and shooting at my chaarcter

bit of a mouthful or if you have any links you can send me that would be great

I could really use a tile system for a platformer. I know Nick Gravelyn has a few tutorials on a tile engine, but they are in video form and I have dial-up, so I'm kind of up a creek.

They're not in the tutorial section, but SixOfEleven has a few blog posts about creating a tile engine:

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 3

Hope those help you out a bit.

I'd like to see a XNA Physics Tutorial.

Primarily on how a ball bounces off objects. I'm making a game right now, and the Physics I'm doing are just not going to cut it.

That's what I'd like the main focus to be, but really I'm willing to learn about other aspects of Physics for game programming too. Whatever you'd like to add!
