I'm a newbie to flash. What is the big difference between normal animation and flash, besides ActionScript?

There's a flash & Actionscript forum you could be asking these questions in. Or alternatively, you could search the internet.

I only know basics in flash but silverlight uses c# as its base which makes it far friendlier to the .Net coders though I don't know much about the actual program.

Stated fact that he has no experience in using Flash? Check.
A thread that should be deleted? Check.
On a more serious note, Flash is a MultiMedia Platform. Okay, let's say that again: MultiMedia Platform. Reducing flash to 'animation' is so far beyond words it's not even funny.

Define "normal animation". Are we talking Disney-type animation? Are we talking animated gif files of fireworks and galloping ponies?

Ok people, you're all being a tad harsh for the question asked. SO what if he's new, we all had to start somewhere didn't we? It's getting so old going into thread after thread in the programming forums (The Lounge is a different story) and seeing members getting treated so badly simply for asking a question.
That's what Dream.In.Code is here for, we're a helping community, and not just for the questions some feel are OK to ask. If all you want to do is flame and troll please take it back to the Lounge as we will not tolerate such activity in the programming help sections of this community.
