Advanced Custom Controls

Posted 13 December 2009 - 11:46 AM

I know the basics of doing custom controls like buttons etc. But I would like to do some more fancy stuff to fit my needs! Are there any tutorials or guides for doing more complex custom controls out there? I can't seem to find anything and I rather learn doing fancy ones myself then buying finished packs. :P

Some of these are actual applications and not custom controls, but most are pretty easy and simple to convert into a custom control.

Create A Custom Design for a Form in C#
CAPTCHA Made Easy
Creating a wysiwyg HTML editor in C#
Syntax Highlight in C#
Add the percent into a progress bar (Updated)
Countdown Timer

Hope this helps

I know you don't want to hear this, but I promise you that you will get more help from an actual book than anything online in regards to this subject. The reason being is that custom controls are a money topic.

Just like design patterns... sure you'll get design patterns online but the sites that provide them only give them hypothetically. You need real-world working examples.

Unfortunately, if you want to pursue the custom controls avenue, you're gonna have to pony up the cash and buy yourself a book on the subject.

Otherwise, you're only going to get slivers of the concept. That just prevents innovation.

Thank you both for your replies. I will try those links out, gbertoli3.

And MentalFloss, might not be the answer I was looking for, but still a good answer. Gonna look around a bit for books and see if I can find a decent one. :)

Thanks!

I have this one:
http://www.amazon.co...u...950&sr=8-13

And it's pretty good. I haven't really read any other books on the subject so I have a limited ability to judge its overall greatness, but it is informative and easy to follow.

However, I'll be getting into WPF pretty soon and really, that's a whole different ball game.
