What was your language path?

Post icon  Posted 23 December 2009 - 08:09 AM

So what was your language path. I have dabbled in many different languages and I think it would be interesting to see how others have evolved. Some of these languages I have just dabbled a little in.

Web Development
HTML/CSS -> Javascript -> VBScript -> ColdFusion -> XML -> Perl -> PHP -> MySQL/SQL

General Programming
QBasic -> VB -> C++ -> Java -> Python -> ASM 6502

General Programming:
TI-83->QBASIC->TurboPascal->Java->Python->Ruby->C (learning)

Any web dev I do is really simple HTML and plugins that others have written. My website is based on a CMS, so I really don't do much web development, nor do I have any working knowledge of the technologies involved.

Web and general in one fell swoop!

HTML -> Javascript -> Java -> Slag -> ASP.NET/C# -> Python (learning)

I've dabbled in C/C++ and assembly somewhere in there too.

C++, then C#, then HTML, some XML (which I don't really like), and MySQL/MSQL/SQLite/SQLCE/OMGWTFSQL. Looking at getting into ASP.net and PHP (more in depth) soon, got some fun projects that need web architecture and I'm not currently the guy that can do it.

HTML->CSS->SQL->PHP->xHTML->XML->Javascript

Assmbly->C->C++->Python->Ruby->Java->Visual basic->Haskell

Languages i still use are C++, xHTML, CSS, SQL, PHP, Javascript

Assembly was kind of hard language as the first programming language. Haskell i've started to learn, but have not had time to do much with it yet.

General Programming
Python --> C/C++ --> Java --> Ruby --> Haskell

As for web development, I know what the <pre> tag does in HTML, but that's about it. I really should learn it at some point.

Web Development
HTML -> CSS -> XML -> ASP.NET

General Development
C/C++ -> Assembly -> VHDL -> C#

I took me awhile to grow up and figure out what I want to do.
