need better understanding about data structures please

Posted 29 December 2009 - 10:39 AM

I have been studying data structures in c++
and mainly about
algorithm analysis,lists,stacks and queues
which is kind of painful for me to get to learn
although I have searched and read numerous tutorials
can anyone give me his or her simple guide or own words about their understanding about
data structures in c++/?
mainly about link lists, stacks and queues
anyone can share his secret learning guide or formula to me??
very thankful if any..
I was just searching for an alternative to learn more about this topic
no homework searching..

I suspect KYA's excellent blog entries on Linked Lists and Binary Trees may be over your head, but you can try taking a look at those and maybe a light bulb will go off. There's also born2code's Data Structures Tutorial.

And I hate to be the one to bring this up, but maybe software development just isn't your bag? It's certainly not for everyone, and you wouldn't be the first to discover this. See the link in my sig for related info.

I know the feeling, data structures are pretty tough to understand well enough to be able to use in your programs. The hardest for me was binary trees but now, I understand pretty well due to finding the right tutorials.

Dreamincode also has some great snippets for data structures, I would recommend them to you. Good luck and don't give up :^:

Your question is much to broad to get a useful answer here. Since there are entire books on this subject, it's impossible to summarize all of it in a post on a forum. The "secret formula", if there is one, is to practice writing programs (A LOT) using these structures. If you have a textbook (you should) it surely has programming exercises -- work on them and when you get stuck post your specific questions on the forum. We can help you work through them.
You can also find assignments to work on simply by googling, for example, "homework linked list", but don't look for ones with solutions -- that will make it too easy to peek & not figure things out for yourself.
