So Ive decided something. Im changing my degree to Criminal Justice. Ive decided my desire to help others in situations I used to be in has a higher calling/priority or whatever you want to call it rather then sitting in an office all day coding. I still love coding and plan on continuing it as a hobby and maybe still do some freelance or contract work.
I was asked to become a permanent member of the DTF group I done some work for a couple years ago. For those of you who read the Legalization of Marijuana you know what Im talking about it. If you didnt then go read it, I dont feel like going into it. Anyways, I still hope I can devote some time here as I think of yall as friends and hopefully can continue to do my part for the community. I will still be working at NCR until June at which time I will be 21 by then and legally able to carry a firearm and well on my way in school.
I didnt put this in Corner Cubicle because that is more code and IT industry related and this isnt. Anyways, wish me luck, lets hope I dont get shot and can continue to grace yall with my lovely presence lol. Alright *high-five*
Im changing my degree and job...Not really Corner Cubicle related, just read.

Are you still planning on moving to the Ohio area? I know a company that does forensic work with crime scene computer hard ware & data retrieval from hard drives & cell phones.
I'm not certain if they are hiring, but I know that they take a while to get back with me

Thank you JackOfAllTrades.
No2, I wont know anything moving until Around the 10 or so of January. The move was going to be to do software development with NCR. Since Ive decided to change career paths Im not sure if Im still going to move if offered. My girlfriend; while she supports my decision is scared and worried and thinks Im an idiot because my dad was a cop and is now disabled due to an accident on the job. So Im going to take things slow for right now to be sure I dont lose her first and foremost. But we'll see and I'll let you know. Thanks.

Ha excellent point No2, however I was vaccinated years ago.
@Sethro, So can I assume that your previous degree was in Computer Science? What prompted the change? I'm much like you, I'm joining the Canadian Reserves and intend to work part-time while attending an undecided institution in Canada with the intention of coming out with a degree in Computer Science/Video Game Design. Let's face me and you we just like to blow shit up.

Yea I was actually going for my BS in Software Engineering. Ive actually been thinking about changing for awhile. My dad was a cop, I love to help people, and Ive been in the type of situation before that I know what goes on and how to deal with it. DTF stands for Drug Task Force which are smaller branches of the DEA assigned to certain areas.
So you can kinda guess the situation Im talking about there. But who knows, since I have IT experience I wouldnt also mind doing like the online predator stuff. I just want to do something that makes a difference and actually impacts people more personally then what I could do coding all day. The other day me and coden4fun were talking and I told him I wanted to be a Cyber Defense Specialist and Im not saying Ive lost that dream. But for right now, Im young this is a great opportunity and Id be a fool to pass it up.

Yeah yeah ... We all know why you're joining the DTF - More to yourself
J/k of course! Well, best of luck! Try not to get shot too many times.

@Sethro:
Continue in the software engineering, go into forensic computing. You can still carry a gun, but you'll only have to shoot it when you want to.

Good for you Seth...takes a lot of moxie to switch mid stream, and the fact that you have identified something you really want to do is great.
And it takes a special type of person to be a cop, so kudos there as well.
All the best.

Seth, have you thought about trying for NSA, CIA or something to that nature? They do a lot of computer related things, and are always looking for bright, up-and-coming software developers. DTF would be a great choice as well, and hats off to you for going for something specific like that.

Thanks everyone Im glad I finally decided what Im going to do.
P4L, yea when Im done with the Criminal Justice degree Id like to go back eventually and pick up on the Software Engineering, I like to know if I end up being able not to do one or decide to make a change again I can always have something to kinda fall back on.

Seth, that's why I am going for a dual degree. AA in CJ, and a BS in IT with a concentration on DBA. Plus, I was thinking of going for a culinary arts degree since I love to cook, and have been told I am quite good at it.
