Web development is growing, applications are getting better and better, and people are experimenting more and more, and what applications can do now days are almost unbelievable! But....

Whats the next big step??

Just recent major trend setting applications from forums, to live chat, to social networking has changed our lives and how we behave and what we do in our spare time, and shows what the majority or people like to do or how they want to be..... So whats next? whats after facebook and twitter???

Whats the next level of communication? Google wave? Twitter? Mobile? Whats the next best thing since twitter?

These are just thoughts I think about continuously while sitting here coding, and listening to music, and when I watch the news.
Wanted to know what others thought about this?

Have you ever heard of Sixth Sense? Id like to see that become a great success and everything we interact with on a dialy basis become more connected and personlized to you. No matter where youre at, all your information, settings and preferences follow you.

I dont know how you got that from Sixth Sense, but anyway, thats what I think, that technology will allows to have so much information and power right there in the palm our hand.

Definitely it's going to be a lot about API's and Web Services I think. Also I think (more like hope) that soon all the major browsers will finally follow the W3C Standards to the book. And one last thing I see happening already is the focus on the ability to create web sites from a designers point of view all the way down to specific fonts, I think that will be a big thing for the future.

I agree with Mosh, more available API's and ultimate web integration. Something similar to SixthSense where your information for different uses throughout the internet based upon individual authentication methods. Making the internet easier for individuals to be active on multiple websites with something like single-sign-on I think is imperative and necessary to move to the next level.

I think we'll see higher internet speeds continue to develop to fuel the architecture. Anyone see the movie Gamer? Truthfully, there's some messed up stuff in that movie, but I could see a lot of that eventually coming to reality, based on human nature.

I think that single-sign on will be something that people want for multiple sites but I can also just see now all the bitching about privacy issues.

That's pretty cool. I do think that DHTML and 3d graphics could become a big part of the web, but only because it is cool not so much useful, at least yet.

This reminded me of a javasacript emulator I saw for the Original NES. Has anyone seen that?
