Ruby Roll Call

Posted 24 January 2010 - 10:51 AM

Are you a Ruby developer? Do you have some projects you have made or maybe you already have a job in the Ruby development field?

Share your experiences with us, so we could include you in the list of Ruby developers here on Dream.In.Code!

I've been messing with Ruby on Rails for the past 4 months or so now and I've been enjoying it very much. In fact, the web project that I'm currently working on is being done with RoR. Also, I'm in the process of reading the book RailsSpace: Building a Social Networking Website with Ruby on Rails.

I haven't done anything beyond small scale scripts but I've been doing tons of research on Ruby and trying to use it whenever possible. I really really love the language.

I've been trying to track down some open source Ruby projects to get involved in but none that I have seen seem very interesting thus far.

Same as Dark_Nexus. I love the language, and love using it, I just don't have either the time or the commitment to create something worthwhile.

My plan is to finish some areas of the language I'm still a bit shaky on, and then more on to Rails.

I have used Ruby for the past 2 years. Originally, I learnt Ruby to use watir and create integration tests for J2EE applications.

Then, I had to evaluate Ruby on rails (vs. J2ee), so I have done some prototypes in rails which were cool enough, and quick to build. These days I do more stuff with JRuby, but I still work on Project Euler with ruby.

I have started learning ruby recently and I realy enjoy using it and use it wherever possible, but I'v never done anything commercial or large scale with it! At the moment I'm attempting to make a game with the amazing Gosu library!
Ruby is awesome! :bananaman:

Tired of working with vb.NET, and have been enjoying the Ruby learning process over the past couple of weeks.

I've been playing with ruby for a year or two now and still enjoy using it as much as when I started. I haven't ever been able to get into Rails very much though. I recently tried Ramaze though and I like it pretty well. It can be found here if anyone is interested and hasn't dealt with it before.

I've been using ruby/rails for a while now. Didn't pay it much attention when it hit big a few years back, but its my favorite now.

Hope this ruby board grows more. Not a lot of ruby/rails people here I guess.

I've been using Ruby at work for about three months now; doing a lot of file association, combining meta data, and data manipulation (which is then usually translated into xml files). Coming from more of a background in C++ and Java, I didn't think I was going to like Ruby but found to be very fast development times and quite powerful, needless to say I enjoy it now.

I've had an on again off again relationship with Ruby over the last couple years. Every time I really start getting in to it something comes up and I don't get back to Ruby for a while. Currently on the side from the C# I do mostly at work i'm trying to get back in to RoR development in my off time. I just have to say that Ruby makes sense to me!
