Pass value from one html page to another html (not using PHP,JAVA,ASP.

Post icon  Posted 28 January 2010 - 02:16 AM

Hello everyone,
Okay so,
I have two HTML pages named:

1. receive.html
2. send.html

What I want to do is that I want to build a functionality that what ever I write on send.html automatically prints on receive.html by just using HTML,XHTML or if needed CSS, But not using any scripting language like PHP,JAVA ASP.NET.

Is that possible, If yes please guide my way to it,
If you want any effort from my side, just tell me and I will provide you with the sample code or anything that can help.
The DIV arrangement on both pages will also be same

Thank you for you time

If you are trying to do this with only html/css you aren't going to get very far.

Using only HTML the only thing you will be able to do is submit your send.html form to receive.html which will involve actually navigating from send.html to receive.html. If you want to update automatically you will have to at least use Javascript and possibly AJAX depending on exactly what you are wanting to do. Are you using frames or are your pages in separate windows? And why can you not use javascript?

First, this isn't advanced by a long shot. Second, you need to use javascript to either put the information into a cookie or post it, though unless it's a dead requirement not to, LEARN PHP.

http://www.w3schools.com/javascript

They have some good tutorials on the subject

I am sorry, I should have mentioned before that I do know PHP and Javascript, I myself is a webdeveloper.
But that is what I am told to do from the guy I work for.

And yes now I am using frames as I see no other way of achieving this result.

And I already asked everyone I know who knows HTML/XHTML ,no one knew how to do this, That's why I put this on a advanced tab.

Thanks for your replies

Yes Now I am using frames to do this as there is no hope from anywhere else.
