Wordle and The States of the Union

Posted 28 January 2010 - 06:44 AM

"Wordle" generates "word clouds" with text that is put in. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. These are the "Wordles" with State of the Union speeches of Obama, Bush (W), Kennedy, Reagan, Roosevelt, Lincoln and Washington.

It's easy to see the individual focus points with each President.

I notice Washington and Lincoln did not have heavy usage of variations of the word 'America' in their speeches...I can only conclude from this they were communists.

Also, kudos to Washington for working in the word 'intercourse'. I heard he did that to win a bet with John Adams.

What I liked the most about the address was that he talked about the debt and how it wasn't his fault. I always hear people bitch and whine that we are in huge amounts of debt because of Obama-tron. Completely false, It was Bush's previous 2 administrations who accumulated that humongous debt and then bounced so really only republicans have themselves to blame for that one.

Exactly.

You cant go to war(s) and not go broke, without pillaging and taking over.

COST OF WAR----Man this thing is FLYING!

Pretty Cool site. You can see the individual cost per state, person, taxpayer, etc. I could have bought a car with the amount I have paid since 2001. Ugh!

The only thing he was good at was ducking shoes.
