This is also where I started.

Go here to learn more.

It's an interesting 3D studio that can allow you to make 3D games.

You could either make them by clicking and dragging to be simple,

or you could go all out and make C++ DLL plugins to the engine for your game.

It's where I started out game programming as a newbie so you should take a look too.

The latest version's got a cool fluid physics and rigid physics engine! It even supports bone information on the model!

That's actually the only bad thing I can tell you about it all. It costs something. It was worth it for me, and you get updates for free.

If you're short on cash, the lower power editions aren't very expensive. Last I checked, it was only 20 bucks for standard or something. It didn't initally cost me very much, but I eventually obtained the powerfull edition.

It's powerfull though. I mean powerfull! If it doesn't do what you want, you can make it do so through C++ and DLL plugins with an SDK you can get from Conitec.

It's where I started as a hobbyist and it will be where I end as a hobbyist. I started with the click-together and then C-Script. I'll dive into writing DLLs as I come back to 3DGS. It's quite a remarkable tool.

At least it costs less than 3D-StudioMAX! 3DSM costs almost as much as a used car!

PS: Videgee doesn't like how it lets you use all the powers of your video card without actual knowledge of how to do so through DirectX or something. That's the whole point! It allows you to focus on designing a game and not figuring out DirectX's symbols.

My personal sugguestion as a pretty n00b coder myself is to play around in the modding scene...Their iis a wealth of knowledge out there on how to use popular game engines such as the Unreal and Source engine...(both of which come FREE with their respective games)...With a fairly easy level editors and scripts all right there...It was my start...And actually where I still am now...Working with tools that many professional developers use helps alot in the longrun...

That's what 3DGS is. A tool that professionals use. It's pre-equipped with a FPS shooter script template so it feels like a mod. After you're more experinced, you can come back and write your own C++ and C-Script.

It's basically what you described. Try it out.

Man this application is the best i've seen for noobs. Wolf u hit it outta the park finding this one man. Thx. Embedding the scripts i already know is a blast. Its almost like making a mod of half-life except adding it to your own game.

Nice thanks man, thank god for search for listing this haha.

Im starting to study a bit on game programming as well since Im focused on C++ and its always good to have the right direction instead of googling unnecessary stuff :).

If any of you are wondering, this is what I am using to make WeaponSoul (my game project which is on my project log) with. I'm simply including the engine via a static link library and writing the game in C++, so it's still perfect for when a newbie becomes experienced and wants to use a strong programming language such as C++, but doesn't feel like going through DirectX gray matter pulverizing hell.
