Hi my very intelligent firends! I have a problem which I hope that someone can solve.

I have created a swf with text on it, only the text is not showing on certain browsers.

I have tested the swf from my computer using IE, Safari, and Firefox. It shows the text correctly without any problems. My friend also tested the text on his browser using Safari and it is showing correctly.

However, when another co-worker looks at from Safari, the images are all on the swf but the text is missing. It is also doing the same thing on our server computer which uses Safari.

Do you have any idea of why this would be like this?

All the text have been converted to symbols. I am using Dreamweaver and have nested the swf file in an HTML page. I reviewed the code and <embed> and <object> are included in the code.

I hope that someone can help. Please view the site for yourself. It is a beta version right now.

It works fine with my browser (firefox)
But it wasn't that quick to load
Maybe thats the problem?
Did you give it time to load the website?

When you loaded the website
Did you leave it so all the pictures and everything else can be loaded, or did you go to the webpage, then cross it off straight because it didn't load?

I'm sorta new to flash design. I didn't know I could differentiate which things would load first. I have not even touched it. So I guess it is on default, whatever that is.

Do you have advice or information that would help with the loading and text problems?

Most of the files are movie clips, I tried not to use any scenes at all.

Ah, either, you didn't stay on the site long enogh for it to load
Or the pc you are viewing the site on doesn't have the software to view it

Do they all have the same flash player version installed? Maybe it's not the browser but the player version. Install the latest player on all machines then view the swf.

EDIT: I am pretty sure that's the problem as this happens to me when I open swfs in Flash sometimes..for them to work correctly I have to open them in my browser because my browser player is newer than Flash's

Your a genious Dilerious. The problem was the flash version. I'm so dumb. I have flash 8 and am using flash player 8. The computers that cannot see the text, are using flash player 7.

So the problem is fixed. Thanx to all.

The OBJECT and EMBED tags are used to reference the swf. IE for Windows uses an ActiveX control to play Flash content, all other browsers and platform combinations use the Netscape plugin. The OBJECT tag is used by IE on Windows and the EMBED is used by Netscape...which is why you need those two tags.

The site works perfectly fine for me in IE, Safari, Opera, Netscape, Mozilla and Firefox. I really think it's just the player version.
