So, I got bored one night, drank a lot, and when I woke up, this existed:
http://colossus.shacknet.nu
It's coded in Ruby on Rails and has a background daemon on a 900 second (15 minute) timer.

You could probably make some bank off an idea like this, sell advertising in this template.

hey that's actually a cool idea! if you gave it a more memorable (meme-ish) domain name, it could get viral.
good job.

It's down at the moment while I try to add in commenting abilities. Having some issues.
Thanks for the feed back so far. I appreciate it and it motivates me to continue to work on it. :)
Edit: It's back up with very simple commenting.

Wow, that is actually a really cool idea. I have submitted a comment under a temp account. Just wondering, do you allow HTML messages to be posted? How about BB?

As of now, it allows HTML. I'm working on a plan to limit HTML like a forum would with block tags, such as [ url ][ /url ].

Thanks all, really. It's good to hear that people think it's interested. I'm actually working through the code in what spare time I get. When I finish with the code revisions, and fixing some bugs that I've noticed, I'll move it to a more suitable domain that I have in mind.
As of right now, I'm just going to let this test keep running until I finish.

Very cool, I am submitting to digg. Great idea behind this but you may need to lessen the duration from 15 minutes if it starts to pick up. That way users will have their attention kept and stay on your site for a longer period of time.
If you do add as adverts to your page make sure that you switch them when the image switches.

When all the red lettering popped up I got scared. Looks as if it was made in Microsoft Office.

This is awesome. Is there an archive of the messages?

Not on the test site. The one I have locally, that is still in development, already has a RSS feed added to keep track of past front page slugs.
