I study whatever I am having trouble, if I am not having trouble with anything specific, I do not study unless...I have an exam soon.

Jack crap. I do the assignments and either start on a freelancing venture or something that interests me beyond the current lessons.

I am currently new to the programming world and try and spend about 2-4 hours a week on the class I am taking. I taking an entry level C ++ class. I always found in all my intro classes if you put in the work the more advanced classes are easier since you have all the basic knowledge.

what you put in is what you get out. If your that gifted (which I am not even close to being gifted)then you won't need to spend much time studying.

I was an athlete through college(baseball) we had a mandatory 20 hours at "study tables" a week.

Study Tables = Signing in on a sheet of paper on Coaches office door, if he wasn't there(we always had to check in) and going to a conference room with desks that all the other teams used as well for study tables. When you were done you signed out or let him know you where leaving and he would record your time. If you didn't get your 20 hours in a week...you had to run.

It was nice because it made me study and do my work.

I usually start the semester out good, with about 10 hrs a week. Now that we are almost mid-way through the semester, I study maybe 5 hrs a week. I usually focus on stuff I am having trouble with.

I would say around 5 Hrs/week with one class. This includes doing HW though.

My strategy is just separate out stuff that needs doing, whether it be reading, studying, or hw, by when it is due. Quiz on friday, hw on tuesday? Do hw then study for quiz. I'm a bit of a sit down and study until I'm sick of it kind of person, but that isn't recommended.

I've been keeping track of how many hours I spend on school this semester and so far I average over 40h/week out of which about 10 hours are spent on lectures.
Remaining time is spent on reading, doing exercises and assignments.
