New Topic/Question
My name is Paul. I am picking up my programming studies again after setting them aside for a few years. I actually hadn't gotten that far into them to begin with, and since things have changed, it's a little like starting over again. I do remember some of the basics, though, and I'm having fun getting "back in the saddle", so to speak.I've managed to create a user form using VBA and Word for some song charts my wife and I needed,
and I've been studying two or three C++ course books (some old, some new) as I find the time for them. I'm especially enjoying the Dietel & Dietel tutorial book complete with a lite version of VisualC++ 6. I'm part way into that and it is my main focus for the time being. I also recently bought a book/software combo on C# and have gotten into that a bit. I have an old Windows 3.1 machine with a C++ compiler (Borland) that I plan to use to finish what I started on that older material, just for fun...and for raw old-time coding experience. I'm interested in Java, too, but I think I need to stay focused on C++ for now--with possible excursions into VB and C# for variety--until I can go after them in greater earnest.I'm really eager to post a question about functions and scope (what can or cannot affect what), but it's getting late for me here in GMT-5... so for tonight, I'm on my way to perhaps "dreaming in code." Hopefully this is wasn't illegally long or something...this is as long-winded as I ever hope to get...
